Hi everyone-
This is my first experience with blogging! I intend to use this as a relatively easy and convenient way to keep friends and family up to date about my life in Botswana. As most of you know, I am flying out of Dulles Airport on Saturday April 18th. Our flight lands in Johannesburg, South Africa a mere 15.5 hours later! From there we will take a bus to Gaberone, the capital of Botswana, which is located in the South East portion of the country. The first two months of life in the Peace Corps consists of what is known as Pre-Service Training (PST). During this time each member of our group, known as Bots 8 (as we are the 8th "class" of volunteers to serve in Botswana since volunteers were reinstated in the country in 2001) will live with a host family while attending daily language, culture, and safety training classes. Once we complete PST we will receive our work assignments and scatter around the country to our respective posts. I will keep you updated about where I will be living and the type of work I will be doing once I know more.
